John Crossley has evolved an approach through the use of colour and form which utilises our subtle and sensitive responsiveness to nuances of change, and associated nuances of mood. Working with abstract images created from layers of colour, his paintings deal with the shifting space and climate of human relating: a sense of distance and closeness, or inclusion and exclusion that can emerge from the context of emotional life. The images offer an enquiry rather than pose a hypothesis.
