LCF’s Centre for Sustainable Fashion (CSF) has been announced this week as a Pioneer in Education at the annual Source Awards. The award recognises commitment to educating the next generation of fashion professionals, and creating ambassadors for sustainability in the fashion industry.
The Source Awards were set up by the Ethical Fashion Forum to highlight innovative and inspirational businesses, individuals and initiatives within the global fashion industry. The CSF is an internationally recognised leader in sustainable fashion education, and beat off stiff competition from other renowned institutions, such as New York’s Parsons New School for Design and Berlin’s ESMOD.
CSF’s Director, Dilys Williams was also shortlisted for the Outstanding Contribution to Sustainability in Fashion award, alongside Saffia Minney, founder of People Tree. Dilys yearns for beautiful, desirable fashion that can sustain not only the planet, but also the people who inhabit it.
CSF has been up and running since 2008, and has a dedicated team of researchers, including Professor Sandy Black, who recently launched The Sustainable Fashion Handbook to critical acclaim. CSF also developed the course structure and content for the groundbreaking MA Fashion and the Environment.
