How to succeed in the arts – UAL’s high profile honourees share their insights
With a line up of creative luminaries to rival the Oscars UAL’s graduation ceremonies this summer saw arts superstars from Richard Deacon to Sarah Burton collecting honorary awards and revealing their top tips for success. Hosted by the Royal Festival Hall on the Southbank, the Class of 2013 were given exclusive advice by 15 honorees, setting them on their own paths to glory.
Highlights included Sarah Burton and Richard Young’s highly personal stories of their most influential experiences, Edmund de Waal’s philosophical perspective on being an artist, Thomas Heatherwick’s inspirational words on seizing the moment, and Liz Forgan’s advice to the year: “No indelible tattoos”.
