Drama Centre London alumni star at BIFA

bifa-09

Two of the acting prizes at last week’s BIFAs (The British Independent Film Awards – for films with budgets below £10 million) went to DCL alumni.

Tom Hardy won Best Actor for his portrayal of Charles Bronson in the film “Bronson” and Anne-Marie Duff won Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of John Lennon’s mother in “Nowhere Boy”. Michael Fassbender was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Fish Tank.

Coming hard on the heels of Colin Firth’s Best Actor Award for “A Single Man” at the Venice Film Festival, this bodes well for the BAFTAs(Nominees to be announced on 12th January 2010) and, who knows, the Oscars.
