UAL is committed to its students, wherever they come from.
We highly value our place within the European cultural environment, and believe that knowledge and scholarship are borderless. UAL is a place for people with common interests to work alongside each other, wherever you were born. We remain committed to these principles and to our current and prospective students from across Europe. We value our EU students’ contribution to the talent pool and cultural diversity of UK education.
The UK will not exit the European Union for at least two years. We therefore don’t expect the decision to affect current students, including those from the EU. For any EU students already studying with us and for those who are starting a new course at UAL in 2016, we will hold their fees at the same amount as is paid by UK students until their course is completed.
Leaving the EU will undoubtedly have an impact on UAL in the longer-term. We are working on our plans for the transition period and beyond. All of our plans will reflect our ongoing commitment to European collaboration and to our student body.
The Student Loans Company (SLC) has confirmed the following:
“Rules are unchanged for EU nationals, or their family members, who have applied for a place at university from this August to study a course which attracts student support. The SLC will assess these applications against existing eligibility criteria, and will provide loans and/or grants in the normal way. EU nationals, or their family members, who are assessed as eligible to receive grants and/or loans by the SLC will then be eligible for the duration of their study on that course.”
