Premier of Catalytic Clothing Film

An exclusive full length version of our film that introduces our public experiment between the worlds of Fashion and Science. This is our endeavour to purify the air we all breathe.

Featuring, and with thanks to, model Erin O’Connor and Radiohead.

Catalytic Clothing is a radical new project that brings together the worlds of fashion and chemistry with the potential to clean the air we breathe. By Artist Professor Helen Storey MBE, London College of Fashion and scientist Professor Tony Ryan OBE, PVC Faculty for Science at University of Sheffield.

Employing existing technology in a new way, the Catalytic Clothing project seeks to explore how clothing and textiles can be used as a catalytic surface to purify air as we walk around our cities.

Catalytic Clothing needs your help!!

Field of Jeans:
Professor Helen Storey, Centre for Sustainable Fashion is requesting donations of your old indigo denim jeans (any size, gender or brand).

A series of art installations will utilise these jeans to elucidate the concept, and will form Fields of Jeans in outdoor spaces that illustrate how one day clothing could purify air.

Your donated jeans will be ‘catalysed’ and placed in several Field of Jeans locations in London and other UK locations, from September 2011. Find out more at www.catalytic-clothing.org

Please drop your jeans into the John Princes St canteen now where you will find a designated bin marked Catalytic Clothing.  Please donate before July 27th

A further announcement will be made when all the dates for Field of Jeans are confirmed.

Your support is appreciated!!

LCF experts in the media

It’s been a busy few weeks for London College of Fashion experts in the media who have been offering comment and opinion for the BBC from The One Show to Woman’s Hour.

Sarah Bailey, Course Director for Fashion Retail Branding and Visual Merchandising was recently featured on the popular early evening BBC One programme The One Show offering her expert knowledge on the art of window dressing. Sarah discussed this year’s Christmas window displays with presenter Carrie Grant and explained how visual merchandising is much more than simply the art of displaying the product but also how today’s high street retailers are using visual merchandising to engage with their customers.
