On Dry Land – exhibition featuring CSM alumnus Dmitri Galitzine

On Dry Land

On Dry Land

We’re looking forward to this group show featuring our BA Fine Art 2009 Alumnus Dmitri Galitzine. In ‘On Dry Land’ three diverse artists reinterpret British landscape in ways that incorporate extreme fishing, video games and dogging.

The work of Dmitri Galitzine, Daniel Kelly and Ben Washington mashes together all the things we use to define this land we call home. They take recognisable aspects of the landscape, of tradition, of architecture and fuse them together with more contemporary cultural oddities, D.I.Y, video games, clay pigeon shooting. The works allow the viewer to consider the slips and gaps, within an often disparate, yet strangely cohesive society. Embodying aspects of status, grandeur, absurdity, globalization and equality, the works take on a social and cultural relevance in their own right as art objects.
