Originators | FdA/BA Design for Graphic Communication | Programme of events
As part of the Originators LCC Summer Shows 2012, FdA/BA (Hons) Design for Graphic Communication students and staff are holding a week of workshops and events. A full programme of events can be found on their show website http://lccdgc.co.uk/programme/
Join us to take part in our ongoing collaborative drawing event with the aim of producing the biggest exquisite corpse drawing ever! Using the theme ‘Invisible’ you will only be able to see the part you are drawing – not what came before! The entire image will be revealed at the end of the night, as well as posted online on the show’s blog. The workshop will also continue throughout the rest of the show.
We declare REUSOLUTION! Make your step towards reusing. Learn how to screen-print, make badges and reuse things – all in one workshop (part of DGC student’s Kristina Popila project ‘RE’). Bring down an old t-shirt or a poster for screen-printing, sweet wrappers for badge-making. In case you don’t have anything on you, the workshop team will have old posters to work with and t-shirts available to purchase in the show shop.
PECHAKUCHA + Design Debates Newspaper Launch
Come along for a ‘20 second slide’ presentation event. DGC 1st year students will introduce their newspaper ‘Design Debates’ – a collaborative writing experience concerning current issues and debates within graphic design practice. DGC 2nd and 3rd year students will present the development of their projects and share personal interests, such as collections, their favourite/most obscure Safari bookmarks and more from ‘behind-the-scenes’.
P/W DIALOGUE C
Eurico Sá Fernandes invites you to the launch of his new book entitled P/W D C; a book concerning the development and impact of an informal group called Es.Col.A, who intended to give new life to an abandoned building, a former elementary school in Porto (Portugal).
The aim of this project is to inspire others of this nature.
All are welcome to come along and participate in an open discussion surrounding topics such as squatting, education and the cuts in culture.
Drop by to challenge existing ideas! The workshop team will provide you with photocopies of DGC student work. Repurpose their ideas and give them a new form – make collages, posters and foldable booklets using the photocopies you’ve been given.
Join us for a workshop to reface an iconic image – the Queen’s portrait. This workshop extends a part of DGC student Ben Rider’s work that involved refacing the portrait to give a new meaning. Learn image-making and editing to create and spread your own message. All of the ‘refaced’ images will be put together into a fun stop-motion animation and published on the show’s blog!
